In 1994 in Almaty President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and Premier of the State Council of China Li Peng signed an agreement between Kazakhstan and China on Kazakhstan-China state border.

In 1995 Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev awarded mothers of many children with the first Altyn Alka (Golden pendant) badges.

In 1996 the meeting of heads of five states, namely, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, China, Russia and Tajikistan held in Shanghai signed the historical agreement on strengthening confidence-building measures near national boundaries.

The Eurasian Economic Summit under the Davos aegis opened in Almaty in 2000.

Aktau Sea Port free economic zone was established in 2002.

A memorial granite plate honoring Kazakhstan's firefighters and liquidators of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant unveiled in Almaty in 2009.

A signing ceremony on opening the Jordan Trade Development Centre in Astana took place in Amman in 2010.

In 2017 the Concert Hall of the Tchaikovsky Almaty music college was named after Yermek Serkebayev.

The first session of the National Commission for Modernization of Public Conscience under the Kazakh President took place in 2017 at Akorda.

A presentation of the book Nursultan Nazarbayev. Biography translated into the Arabic took place in the capital of the Saudi Arabia in 2017.
