Kazakh poet, writer and one of the leaders of the Alash Orda government Myrzhakyp DULATOV was born in 1885 in Turgai region. He lost his mother when he was only 2 years old. His father passed away when Myrzhakyp was 12. He graduated from the State Russian-Kazakh College and started working as a teacher in a village in 1902. Later in life Dulatov became one of the leaders of the national liberation movement and most of his works and poems were dedicated to liberation of the Kazakh people. He was arrested in 1911 in Semipalatinsk for his activity and spent 1 year and 8 months in prison. In 1917, Dulatov helped organize the First All-Kazakh Congress in Orenburg where the first Kazakh political party «Alash» was formed. In 1928, Dulatov spoke against the cancellation of the Arab alphabet. He was arrested in December the same year and sentenced to 10 years behind bars for the Kazakh nationalism. Sadly, Dulatov never returned to normal life again as he passed away in the Solovets camp on October 5, 1935. He was rehabilitated posthumously in 1988 and recognized as the pioneer of the modern Kazakh literature and one of the leaders of the national liberation movement.
Head of the President’s Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan ONZHANOV was born in 1960 in Almaty region (formerly Taldykorgan region). Mr. Onzhanov is a graduate of the Humboldt University in Germany and the Maurice Thorez Moscow Pedagogic Institute of Foreign Languages. Throughout his professional career he served in many diplomatic missions of Kazakhstan, mainly in Switzerland, Germany and Denmark. Prior to taking up the recent post in March 2019 he was the Assistant to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2014-2019).
