Kassym-Jomart TOKAYEV, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was born 67 years ago in 1953. Born on May 17, 1953 in Almaty city (formerly Alma-Ata). In 1975, Kassym-Jomaty Tokayev graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO). In 1992, he finished studies at the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation.
His diplomatic career started in 1975 at the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs and he got sent to work at the Soviet Embassy in the Republic of Singapore. In 1979, he returned to the USSR Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1984-1985 he worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR, and then for several years he worked at the Soviet Embassy in the People's Republic of China, where he stayed until 1991 as the Second Secretary, First Secretary and Adviser.
In 1992, he was appointed as Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan. In 1993, he became the First Deputy Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan. In 1994, he was named the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan. In March 1999, he became the Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan. In October 1999, with the consent of the Parliament by the Decree of the President of Kazakhstan, he was appointed as the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan. In January 2002, he was designated as the State Secretary - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan. From 2003 to 2007 he was the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan. He took an active part in the global process of non-proliferation of nuclear weapons.
In 2007, he was elected as the Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan. In 2011, he was appointed as the UN Deputy Secretary-General, Director-General of the UN Office at Geneva, and also Personal Representative of the UN Secretary-General at the Conference on Disarmament.
In 2013, he was re-elected as the Chairman of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament. On June 9, 2019, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was elected as the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the extraordinary presidential election by winning the majority of votes (70,96%). The swearing-in ceremony of the newly-elected president was held on June 12, 2019.
Igor ROGOV, Deputy Executive Director of the Fund of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, was born in 1950 in Baku, Azerbaijan. He is a graduate of the Kirov Kazakh State University. Throughout his career, Mr. Rogov held many post, the most notable ones include Assistant and Adviser to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Minister of Justice, Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, and Chairman of the Constitutional Council. He was appointed to his recent post in December 2017.
Nurzhan NURSSIPANOV, Deputy of the Senate of the Kazakh Parliament, member of the Committee for International Relations, was born in 1957 in East Kazakhstan region. He took up his recent post in 2017.
