1989 – The 14h session of the Supreme Council of the KazSSR of the 11th convocation is held to adopt the decree on the measures for further implementation of political reforms, laws on amends and additions to the Constitution of the KazSSR, languages, election of people’s deputies, election of deputies of the local councils of people’s deputies. The Central Election Commission for election and recall of people’s deputies is set up.
1993 – Then-President of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev pays an official visit to Germany.
